Beatrice Phillips Sullivan, age 93, of Murfreesboro, went to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday. Feb.21,2013.
She was the daughter of the late John Oscar Phillips Sr. and Drue Summar Phillips. She was a native of Rutherford County and member of Belle Aire Baptist Church.
Mrs. Sullivan is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Ann and her husband Greg Mather of Christiana, daughter-in-law Barbara Sullivan of Christiana, and five grandchildren, Lindsay and her husband Nick Franklin, Kevin Mather, Kelly and her husband Drew Weaver, Caroline Sullivan, Victoria Sullivan and sister Drusilla Baltimore of Franklin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton Neely Sullivan, son Clayton Phillip Sullivan, by sisters Roberta Alsup and Joyce Lane and brothers Oscar Phillips and Shelah Phillips.
Mrs. Sullivan was valedictorian of Walter Hill High School class of 1938. She was raised on a farm during the Great Depression and employed by Sewart Air Force Base as a supply clerk during World War II. She married in 1946 when Clayton returned from World War II after being wounded in France. She was married to Clayton for 62 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and soon to be great-grandmother, who loved to cook for her family and made every holiday a special event. She always had a smile and it will never be forgotten.
Funeral service will be 10:00am Monday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Brother Dean Sisk officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallberarers.
