Barber shop, pool hall cited for housing illegal gambling operation

Nine individuals were charged with misdemeanor gambling and one was charged with promotion of gambling and possession of gambling machines after Murfreesboro Police executed a search warrant at a downtown business recently.

Jimmy D. Lester, 61, owner of Pastime Barber Shop and Pool Hall, 116 S. Maple St., was cited for hosting a regular weekly poker game for profit and possession of five video poker machines.

The Murfreesboro Police Department Special Investigations Vice Unit served the search warrant in relation to illegal gambling, a release stated.

Detectives seized multiple poker machines, a table and $6,690.

So when are the police going to crack down on all of the gambling machines in the mom & pop markets? Mostly foreign owned now.
