The Rutherford/Cannon County Bar Association would like to warn recent storm victims of the potential danger as the cleanup and rebuilding processes begin.

To aid the tornado victims, the Rutherford/Cannon County Bar Association will host free legal clinics for victims of the recent Murfreesboro tornadoes Saturdays through May 9 to provide them with free legal advice on insurance claims, insurance policy reviews, contract reviews or other general legal advice.

The Bar will also offer preparation of simple wills, living wills and powers of attorney to any storm victims as needed during the legal clinics.

The clinics will be held at the offices of Blankenship & Blankenship, PLLC, 307 Hickerson Drive, Murfreesboro, TN 37129 which is located behind Subway and Budget Brakes on Broad Street at the corner of Church Street.

The clinics will be held from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm and no appointments are necessary.

It is important that anyone contracting for cleanup or repair work be sure that agreements with contractors are clearly written so that all their rights are protected.

There have been news reports of scam artists who are collecting money up front and then failing to provide the service contracted for. The Bar would also like to encourage anyone entering into a contract to seek legal counsel prior to execution of the contract to ensure that their rights are properly protected.
