Arsonists scratched the word “pig” into the hood of a Murfreesboro Police officer’s personal truck before torching it early Tuesday outside his Greenland Drive apartment, police reported.

Damage figures were unavailable to the 2007 F-150 Ford truck owned by Officer Tim Jensen, Officer Tommy Massey reported. The truck is valued at $25,000.

“The vehicle suffered extensive smoke damage and moderate burn damage to the vehicle interior,” Massey reported.

Police found two plastic bottles filled with an unknown accelerant inside the truck. One was placed on the passenger side floorboard and a second one found in the rear passenger floorboard. One of the bottles was recovered for fingerprints.

Jensen told Massey someone vandalized his truck Oct. 27 by breaking out a window.

Assistant Fire Marshal Carl Peas is investigating. He collected evidence at the scene.

“It’s a set fire,” Peas said. “We’re looking into it.”

People who have information about the fire are asked to call Peas at 849-2605.

Geez, I wonder what Officer Jensen did to draw this kind of attention...

As much as I don't like cops (I have my reasons), this is still very uncool. Chances are, if they get finger prints, they'll find them on file...

Better get a "carfax" report!

So tell us DEVOLVER, why you dislike like cops.

It amazes me that some people have nothing better to do than make stupid comments about the police. This is more than likely someone he arrested for a criminal act and that person followed the officer home at a later date to seek some form of revenge or maybe it was one of the many local police bashing individuals who regularly have negative comments about our protectors of society. As for Macgyver's comment, " better get a carfax report ", need I say more. What some people do not realize is that if someone is blatant enough to attack a police officer or vandalize his property what do you think the same criminal will do to the rest of you given the opportunity?

barrettbear- Your question brings to mind the old song "I Fought The Law and The Law Won." Could that be the reason?

Boroblue, my comment had absolutely nothing to do with the police, its an advertizing slogan. I’m sure this man has insurance and I’m sorry it happened, but you might want to lighten up. Hope no one messed with your cereal this morning!

Macgyver, just because someone didn't find your comment as entertaining as you doesn't mean anything about their cereal.....in fact boroblue had an french toast this morning.

Anyways....no one "deserves" to have something done like this. I don't care what they did or their job description is.

barrettbear and boroblue, I don't trust police. I've had plenty of run ins with the MPD over the years, almost everyone of them was a positive experience. Most of you guys are just people doing a job, a necessary one at that. I understand that you put your life on the line for (what I believe to be) too little pay. You do a job that I would never want to do.

On an individual level I have a lot of respect for cops. But on the flip side, I've seen too many cops who have a chip on their shoulder and appear to have something to prove. It's always the bad apple that spoils the bunch. I think everyone should have a healthy amount of suspicion of any who wields that sort of power.
