Locating a runaway girl led sheriff’s deputies Saturday to solving a home invasion and three other burglaries.

Deputies Jeffrey Ver Bruggen and Roscoe Sanders responded to Sunnyside Drive off Old Nashville Highway where they found the runaway with another boy and young adults. They also found the illegal drug, Ecstasy, and a handgun.

The investigation led to Detective Steve Kohler recovering a stolen handgun from the boy and solving a home invasion where the handgun was stolen, the burglary of Blackman Market, a car and garage and a theft.

When deputies arrived, Sanders said they encountered Caleb Ryan Thompson and a 15-year-old girl outside.

“Caleb held Ecstasy in his hand,” Sanders said.

Ver Bruggen charged Thompson, 24, of Sam Davis Drive with possession of Ecstasy and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

They went to a nearby garage where they found the runaway girl and three males inside.

“They were around a table with Ecstasy, alcohol and a pipe,” Sanders said.

While searching the suspects, deputies found a handgun on suspect Joshua Locke, 19, of Cooper Drive. They charged him with possession of a weapon, possession of Ecstasy and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Suspect Shane Anderson, 20, of Old Nashville Highway, and a 15-year-old boy gave information implicating each other in the burglaries.

Kohler recovered a handgun in the boy’s bedroom stolen in a home invasion. He charged Anderson and the boy with burglary of the home, a car and a garage Sept. 8 on Old Nashville Highway and the July 11 burglary of Blackman Market.

Anderson and the boy were accused of breaking into the home while the people were home and stealing the handgun, the detective said. The homeowner awoke and saw the suspects.

“The guy chased them out with a gun and shot at them,” Kohler said.

Anderson, the boy and the runaway were also charged with possession of Ecstasy.

Kohler credited Sanders and Ver Bruggen with helping solve the burglaries.

During a Juvenile Court hearing Monday, Magistrate Adam Dodd ordered the runaway and boy held in detention until a later hearing.

Hearings for the adults are pending in General Sessions Court.
