Two armed robbers made off with more than $800 in cash from the Super Discount Tobacco and Beer store on South Church Street Friday afternoon.

Murfreesboro Police responded to an armed robbery call at 12:40 p.m. Friday from the store owner Mike Pandit.

Pandit reported two black males wearing dark clothes entered the store, brandished a silver semi-automatic pistol and demanded money.

“The gunman had the owner open the register and the second suspect came behind the counter and actually took $400-$500 out of the drawer,” MPD Officer Tamara Jensen reported.

The gunman then allegedly demanded Pandit hand over his wallet, which contained an additional $300 and credit cards. He then allegedly grabbed the victim’s laptop and the suspects ran out of the door in the direction of Summerlake Apartments.

Two men hijacked a young man’s bicycle on Northwest Broad Street Saturday afternoon.

The 17-year-old Blackman student was riding his bicycle on Broad Street near State Route 840 around 1:30 p.m. Saturday when an older model dark red pick-up truck forced him from the road.

The driver, a white male with blond hair around 40 years old to 45 years old wearing a blue plaid shirt, allegedly approached the youth with a black semi-automatic pistol.

The driver then allegedly took the youth’s wallet and bicycle, a blue and silver Quest mountain bike.

The young man also reported a passenger in the truck, who had brown hair and was wearing a red shirt.

The victim could not report a tag number.

Anyone with information regarding these crimes is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 893-STOP.

This is all the more reason for me to continue carrying my handgun everywhere I go. These thugs keep getting bolder!

Well, they make it harder for a law abiding citizen to carry a weapon. However, I don't think I want to kill someone over a bike - I'd rather them just take it. Now, if they invade my house, that's a different story.

I would most certainly defend my property. Be forewarned I'm packing and I'm highly motivated to use it. Every citizen needs to have lots of guns and ammo. If nothing else to defend ourselves from the Government and the gestapo.
