One man intending to buy a laptop computer on the online Craig’s List was robbed at gunpoint instead during a hold up Sunday on Craig Court, Murfreesboro Police reported.
Victim Jeremy Foster and his friend, Michael Corn, arrived to buy the $500 laptop when they were met by two unidentified men, Officer Marja Atchley reported. When they pulled up, a man carried a black bag he believed was the laptop.
The seller spoke to a man at a duplex on Craig Court that made Foster feel uneasy, the officer reported. As Foster attempted to get back in his vehicle, a man wearing a black hoodie approached the car and put a small handgun to Corn’s stomach.
“He told Jeremy and Michael not to do anything stupid and took both of their wallets and cash,” Atchley reported.
Foster’s wallet contained $503 in cash while Corn’s wallet contained $1 cash. Both wallets contained the driver’s licenses and bank debit cards. The officer advised the victims to cancel their credit cards.
Detectives responded to take over the investigation.

In an unrelated case, Officer Mona Thomas-Wassel reported victim Charles Michael Crockett of Christiana was robbed of $127 Saturday morning on Hanover Street.
A man carrying an aluminum bat approached Crockett and asked if he knew a woman named LaShonda. Crockett recognized the man as LaShonda’s boyfriend.
“The suspect then told Mr. Crockett to give him his money,” Thomas-Wassel reported. “Mr. Crockett stated that he was afraid the suspect was going to hit him with the bat and threw his wallet toward the suspect. The man then struck Crockett in his left knee, causing his knee to buckle.”
When Crockett doubled over in pain, the man struck him in the back of the neck with the bat, the officer reported. The robber stole $125 form Crockett’s wallet and fled.
Police located the suspect. Crocket stated he intended to obtain arrest warrants against the robbery suspect.
