Robbers armed with handguns robbed people in residential neighborhoods during the weekend, Murfreesboro Police reported.

Victims Javier Rodriguez, Milia Florencia and Walter Raminez were robbed at gunpoint by two white men about 7:45 p.m. Friday at Stones Creek Apartments on Bradyville Pike, Officer Joshua Meredith reported.

The victims were standing outside their apartment when the suspects drove up and attempted to sell stereo amplifiers and rings, the officer reported. When the victims attempted to back away, one of the suspects reached into his car, produced a small silver revolver and demanded the victims give him all their money. They escaped with $143.

In another case, Officer Jason Parker reported victim Eber Morales of McMinnville, Hector Soto and Walter Nonina, no address available, were talking about 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Hastings Street when two men wearing ski masks approached. One carried a handgun.

“The one white male with the handgun pointed the weapon at the three men and told them to ‘give us your money,’” Parker reported. While the one suspect was pointed the weapon at the men, the other subject punched Mr. Soto in the mouth, causing Mr. Soto to fall to the ground. After punching Mr. Soto, the men began patting Mr. Morales down and took his wallet.”

Then, the armed man hit Nonina with the gun in the forehead until Nonina fell to the ground, the officer reported.

“Morales said at some point during this attack, the gun discharged but no one was hit with the bullet,” Parker reported.

The suspects walked away after getting an undetermined amount of money.

In the third case, Officer Curtis Brinkley reported victim Jason Fleury of Hawkins Avenue and witness Phillip Moore were looking at work done on Fleury’s house when a man in a Buick raised a handgun and demanded Fleury to drop everything.

Fleury dropped his keys and wallet, the officer reported. The driver removed the vehicle tag from the car and they fled.

The suspects were described as white men wearing black ski masks.

People who have information about the suspects are asked to call the Criminal Investigations Division at 893-2717 or Crime Stoppers at 893-STOP between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Robberies are becoming bad in Murfreesboro and will get worse with the economy the way it is now. We, all, need to be extremely careful at all times and then it might still happen to us. The thugs that are robbing people need to get a real job. The job might not be easy, but it would be an honest one.

My opinion? Well, I think Lisa Marchesoni needs a writing lesson as paragraphs sure would make this much easier to read. Forgive me, please, if I have wrongly stepped on your toes, Ms. Marchesoni but I have seen this happen quite a few times on The Post so it may be a 'technical' situation.

You are forgiven... It is a 'technical' situation.

oh i agree ! Lisa Marchesoni might not be a real person. There are errors of the most basic kind in all her articles. It seems 'her' articles are direct copies of the police report. A paid journalist would never succumb to this kind of work product.

"It seems 'her' articles are direct copies of the police report."
That's what the police report is supposed to be. If more so called journailsts would report the facts instead of their opinions, we would be much better informed.
Just the facts Mam, just the facts.
If I want opinions, I'll go to the editorial page.

Putting the comments against Ms. Marchesoni aside for a moment, diddlede has a valid piont. One common demoninator with these and many recent violent crimes within our city recently was a suspect armed with a handgun. Gone are the days when thugs kept their hand in their pocket to make you think they may have a gun. These cowards brandished their weapon. One seemed so skilled in the operation of his weapon it discharged.
I support citizens obtaining their handgun carry permit.Citizens gain knowledge and confidence in the operation of their weapon throught the permit class. It then becomes a tool you have you may never have to use, but it's there when you need it.
The thugs are armed. Most of them are stupid, but others practice with their weapons more than some of our police officers practice with theirs. It's a matter of time before these cowards kill another innocent person. Take the Roma Pizza robbery in Nashville for example. Those "suspects" claimed they didn't mean to kill the young store clerk. I'm not going to be next. I'm armed, my wife is armed. One of these brainstems points his gun at one of us, we'll drop him.

trey, I understand you views and opinions on this matter, but I also cant help from wondering if armed citizens is the correct answer to this problem. Had any of the victims in the resent robberies attempted to pull out a firearm to protect themselves or others I fear the outcome could have been far worse. If a man is desprate enough to hold a gun to someones head while robbing them in broad daylight, that person is also very capable of pulling that trigger multiple times before a victim has the time to pull his own weapon to protect himself. We are not dealing with level headed people. They are criminals. They are young, desprate thugs pumping with adrenaline and hyped up on drugs. Are you willing to risk your life to pritect the $20 in your pocket? Are you willing to risk the life of your wife? I am certainly not suggesting that we "lay down our arms" and just become pray to the criminals, but I do not believe that arming every citizen with a handgun is the solution either. This is not the Wild Wild West. The solution lies with law enforcement. It is their duty to SERVE AND PROTECT us. They need to step it up and do what WE pay them to do. Just one more side note....the mortality rate due to gun fire in the United States for one day is pretty close to the yearly total in all of Europe. Why such a huge difference?
