Arlene Mae Shanklin Cox

Arlene Mae Shanklin Cox, passed away on June 8, 2014, at The Meadows in Bellview, Tennessee. Mrs. Cox was born June 2, 1924 in Des Moines, Iowa to Alice R. Emmons and Charles Smith and was raised by her adoptive parents Mr. and Mrs. Donald D. Shanklin of Bloomington, Illinois.
Mrs. Cox was preceded in death by her loving husband, Roy Douglas Cox; her daughter, Sandra Lynn Cox Jones; her mother Alice R. Emmons Hall; her father, Charles Smith, who was killed in World War II at the Battle of Bataan and was the recipient of the Purple Heart and the Distinguished Service Cross; and her adoptive parents, Mr. and Mrs. Donald D. Shanklin.
Survivors include a son Stephen D. Cox of Franklin, Kentucky; three grandchildren, Christopher M. Cox of Germantown, Tennessee, Elizabeth S. McMackin of Nashville, Tennessee and Donald L. Jones of Florida; a brother Max Hall of Knoxville, Iowa; seven great grandchildren and a host of other loving family and friends.
Mrs. Cox will be returned to the ground from whence she came during graveside services, 4:00pm, Wednesday June 11, 2014 at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Woodfin Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
