Police responded to a call from 2534 Hillingdon Drive at around 1 a.m. Sunday, June 6, in response to an armed suspect who was waving a gun at people.
On the way to the location officers were notified that the suspect, Quenshawn McCroskey, had left the scene in a maroon Honda. The suspect was spotted at the corner of Bolden Drive and Floyd Avenue.
When police attempted to stop the vehicle, the suspect accelerated, running two stop signs. The vehicle proceeded west on Bradyville Pike before turning onto Ransom Drive, then turning onto Foxdale Drive where the suspect swerved at an on-coming car.
Officers reported that the suspect continued to speed through the neighborhood, driving on both sides of the road, “with no regard for public safety.”
The suspect reportedly swerved at a second car in an attempt to hit it before stopping abruptly and turning into a driveway at the corner of Bartway Drive and Ransom Drive.
After police pulled into the driveway behind the vehicle, the suspect proceeded to drive through the yard of the residence, causing two men to run inside the house before turning back onto Ransom Drive.
A stop was made when the vehicle attempted to drive back onto Hillingdon Drive. Once officers had secured the scene they were able to make contact with Alice Brown who said her two nephews, McCroskey and Jonathon Smith, had gotten into an argument over money.
McCroskey allegedly claimed Smith owed him money, but Smith stated he did not owe McCroskey anything.
At this point the argument began to escalate and McCroskey allegedly pulled a gun on Smith. The two men struggled over the weapon before Brown said she was going at call the police. McCroskey then fled in his vehicle.
Bryan Moore, a neighbor, told officers he heard the fight. He stated he then heard a loud noise in his backyard and looked out to find McCroskey running away and a large, black revolver lying in his yard.
Police reported the weapon contained five rounds and one casing. Officers also reported when in custody Smith informed them he pulled the gun on Smith during the fight knowing that Smith had prior gun charges. |
