The Middle Tennessee Association of Realtors recently recognized the professionals within their membership who have exemplified excellence at the MTAR Hall of Fame Awards and Designation Luncheon.

At this luncheon, members who have sought out and earned a Realtor designation were named and held up as examples to be followed within the real estate industry, while those members who have been practicing real estate consistently for 25 years or longer were recognized for their years of dedicated service by being inducted into the MTAR Hall of Fame. More than 130 Realtors were on hand to commend these individuals on their achievements.

While joining a Realtor organization is itself a commitment to a higher standard of real estate practice, many within the industry seek to further distinguish themselves through pursuing further specialized education in a particular field of the industry and earning a Realtor Special Designation. These designations require many hours of intense instruction and course work, often taking several months or even years to complete, and are considered to be the highest marks of excellence among real estate professionals. Amongst the attendees at the awards luncheon were some of MTAR’s more than 300 current Realtor members who have earned such designations, over 100 of which hold multiple designations.

Also honored were the Realtor members who have been actively practicing real estate consecutively for 25 years or longer; these members are inducted to the Hall of Fame on their 25th year, and then recognized again every five years. This year, MTAR inducted 20 new members into their Hall of Fame, along with eight 30-year veterans and eleven 35-year honorees.

Five special members were also recognized for their exceptional years of service to the industry and their communities: Bill Carey of Bob Parks Realty in Murfreesboro (40 years), Charlie Teasley of Appraisal Associates of Murfreesboro (40 years), Raymond Pedigo of Pedigo & Todd Realty & Auction in Woodbury (50 years), Jug DeFord of David Bryan Realty & Auction in Manchester (55 years) and special honoree Cliff Weddington of Century 21 Mid-State Realty in Manchester (59 years).

“The Middle Tennessee Association of Realtors is very proud of all of our members, but we also like to give special recognition to those who have gone above and beyond,” noted MTAR President Holly Sims. “The Realtors that we honored today are role models, leading exemplary careers through their years of dedicated service and commitment to education within their chosen field. We hope that by publicly honoring them, they will inspire others to follow in their footsteps.”
