There’s no question that networking is a fundamental skill required for succeeding in today’s business setting. There are many forms of networking including social media and the good old fashioned face-to-face variety. Each type has its own benefits, but in-person networking can be especially helpful because it allows you to build relationships with colleagues as well as potential clients and customers.

A new networking group in our area is hoping to help fellow Rutherford County business professionals do just that. RING, Rutherford Independent Networking Group, is a non-profit networking group designed to promote its members’ businesses through referrals and weekly meetings with an emphasis on education.

The group was founded in 2013 by several local professionals looking to expand their business opportunities by getting to know people in the community.

“RING is a great place to build lasting relationships with fellow Rutherford County business professionals,” said Mat Kroezen, one of RING’s founders. “We really wanted to create a space where people could learn about each other’s
businesses and help each other succeed.”

The group meets at 7:30 a.m. every Thursday in a conference room at the Embassy Suites on Conference Drive in Murfreesboro. Each week members get to spend one minute talking about something specific they are looking for to help them grow their business. One member every week is given the opportunity to give a more in depth five minute presentation.

RING places an emphasis on education and hopes not only to help members grow their business, but also to gain knowledge that will help them grow as individuals. With that in mind, time has been built in every month for a member to provide an educational piece for the group. Previous topics have included building a networking stack for conversations at events and tips on expanding your business using LinkedIn.

RING encourages all local business people to become members, though seating is limited to one person per profession.
