Applications for BEP summer programs available

Applications for the Business Education Partnership’s summer programming are now available in schools.

The BEP offers exciting professional development program opportunities for 3rd-12th grade educators in June and the challenging State Farm Summer Business Camp for 6th-8th grade students in July.

The BC³ Academy for Math and Science Study Enhancement is a week-long day program, June 7th-11th, for 5th-12th grade educators, focusing on applications of math and science to specific career fields.

Teachers meet local business and higher education leaders across Rutherford County and Middle Tennessee and create lesson plans for their classrooms based on skills needed in the workforce.

Teachers may receive professional development credit and a stipend for their participation. The BC³ Academy is made possible by Destination Rutherford, MTEMC Customers Care, and other investors.

Professor Buzzo’s Discovery Academy is a brand new three day program, June 21-23rd, created specifically for 3rd-5th grade educators. It focuses on intergrating math, science, technology and the arts through hands-on activities and workshops. Professional development credit and stipends are also available to attendees. The program is sponsored by the Jennings and Rebecca Jones Foundation.

State Farm Summer Business Camp is a two-week day program for students completing 6th, 7th, or 8th grade this spring.

Held July 5th-16th, this fun and challenging camp teaches students entrepreneurship and business skills through working with local business leaders. The camp culminates in a final business plan competition where the winners take home new laptop computers! The camp is tution-free and is presented by State Farm.

Deadline for all applications is April 26th. To obtain forms and for more information, contact the BEP at (615) 278-2008.

The Business Education Partnership (BEP) Foundation is a non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization created by the Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce. The BEP seeks to form and sustain valuable relationships between Murfreesboro City and Rutherford County schools with businesses in Rutherford County.
