MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- The city is accepting applications on a first-come, first-serve basis for the Murfreesboro Citizens Academy, which will begins in February 2014.
Completion of the academy comprises weekly three-hour classes beginning Monday, Feb. 3, through Monday, March 24, 2014, and it offers residents a chance to learn more about how the local government works, including a behind-the-scenes look at the Murfreesboro Police Department.
Class will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Murfreesboro City Hall unless otherwise indicated. The cost to attend the academy is $25 per person.
The class is open to all Murfreesboro residents, employees and people who may live in other parts of Rutherford County but work or own property within city limits.
Participants will be expected to attend at least one Murfreesboro City Council meeting during the two months the academy is scheduled, and they may only miss one class in order to graduate.
