The Rutherford County Commission decided to postpone voting on an anti-litter resolution Thursday night.

The Commission voted 12 to 9 in favor of taking the resolution back to the County Steering Committee in order to get more public input. This is the second time that voting on the issue has been pushed back.

According to the resolution, a $50 fine would be placed on homeowners who leave trash on their yards, and also companies that operate work vehicles like garbage or construction trucks for anything that falls out of them.

Newspapers and phone book companies who leave items on a residence after being asked to stop could be fined as well.
