Steve Barker and Brooks Christol have pooled their 50 years of combined experience to launch a new company in Murfreesboro – Barker & Christol LLC.
Dubbed “the natural evolution of two successful businesses,” Barker & Christol is a combination of services provided by the owners’ previous companies, Canine Creative and Christol Branden.
“We actually started working together a little more than a year ago on Murfreesboro Symphony (promotions),” Christol explained. “When I saw his artwork, I said, ‘this guy knows what he’s doing.’”
The two partnered on various projects thereafter until, eventually, it made sense to form a new company.
“Both of us were ambitious to create a new agency in Murfreesboro,” Christol said. “The core between both of us is that we are very strategic. There has to be a plan and reason behind doing it, and that’s what creates great marketing.”
Together, they launched Barker & Christol, which provides advertising and public relations services.
“For the most part, (Barker’s) responsibility is art direction and design work, and my focus is on marketing strategy and public relations,” Christol continued.
The partnership “provides such a better product,” and feedback from clients has been positive.
“All of my clients loved the idea because they like the idea that they’ve got some good strategic art direction, and we’re not just doing everything with as little effort as possible,” he said. “And his clients have said they (are) thinking about all the elements (compared to) just on ad and design products.”

MBM of Murfreesboro has revolutionized its business with a new name, new brand and the expansion of more office products and IT services.
“MBM has been in business for 15 years providing premium office equipment,” MBM president Jerry Beaird said. “With the technology industry rapidly growing, we knew it was time to expand our products and services and change our company name to meet our new profile of an all-around business solution center.”
MBM will now be known as MBM Business Solutions, a news release announced.

“Our goal is to ensure that the clients within Middle Tennessee have all the products and services they need at just one phone call away,” Beaird continued. “We have established a local inventory warehouse to ensure that any immediate need for a product, such as toner, phone systems, or computer hardware is handled promptly to avoid any disruption in their daily operations.”
In addition, MBM Business Solutions is working on securing partnerships with national corporations, such as FP Mailing Solutions.
