The Middle Tennessee baseball program is once again gearing up for the annual Grand Slam Fish Fry presented by Nissan of Murfreesboro, scheduled for Oct. 10 at 6 p.m. at the Livestock Center on the campus of Middle Tennessee State University.

“It’s a fundraiser for Blue Raider baseball, but really it’s a FUN-raiser for the entire community,” head coach Steve Peterson said. “It’s a time to see familiar faces and old friends, like a big reunion. And it’s the best catfish of anywhere in the county. You don’t want to miss it.”

Although Big Hoss Cartwright, who prepared the catfish for the event since 1985, has passed away, the “Big Hoss Cartwright Cookers” will carry on the tradition of frying up the catfish in Cartwright’s honor. Cajun gumbo will also be available in addition to hot dogs for the kids. The Russ & Becky Jeffers Country Band will be on hand to entertain the crowd.

Tickets are $20 and children under six years old are admitted for free. Tickets are available at the Blue Raider Athletic Association office inside the Murphy Center or at the athletic ticket office located at Gate 1A of Floyd Stadium.

Patrons wishing to pay by mail can make checks payable to Middle Tennessee Baseball Fish Fry and can send their payment to Steve Peterson, MTSU Box 90, Murfreesboro, TN, 37132.

For more information, call 615-898-2210 or 615-898-2450. Proceeds from the Grand Slam Fish Fry benefit the Blue Raider baseball program.
