Services for Amon Voyt Jones, 87, of Murfreesboro, who passed away Friday, June 26, 2009, will be at 10:00 A.M., Monday, June 29, 2009, at Jennings and Ayers Funeral Home with burial at New Hope Cemetery in Sparta, TN. Reverend George Jones will officiate.
Born in Sparta, TN, Mr. Jones lived in Murfreesboro almost all his adult life. He is proceeded in death by his wife, Patricia Ann Jones; father, John Houston Jones and mother Sarah Goodson Jones; brothers, Toy Jones, Huborn Jones, Waymon Jones; sisters, Lorean Jones (Poore), Lucy Jones (Usery), Ovella Jones (Farley); and son-in-law, Allen Comer. He is survived by a sister, Beulah Jones (Betterton); sons, Dennis (Angie) Jones of Murfreesboro and Michael (Suzanne) Jones of Sun City, CA; daughters, Katherine Jones Davenport and Lynne Jones Comer; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Mr. Jones was a World War II veteran. He was a member of the Mt. Moriah Lodge #18 as a 50 year Mason. He retired from the Veteran's Administration Hospital and attended Cedar Grove United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., Sunday, June 28, 2009 at Jennings and Ayers Funeral Home.
