MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- Inc. is actively hiring for more than 500 full-time positions with benefits starting at its fulfillment center in Murfreesboro, company officials recently announced.

Rutherford County leaders are praising the announcement of the new positions, which Amazon officials said are needed in order to meeting customer demand.

“Rutherford County continues to be very fortunate to have Amazon as one of its major employers,” said Ernest Burgess, mayor of Rutherford County.

“The announcement of more than 500 new full-time positions with comprehensive benefits is exciting news for all of our citizens," he said. "This will continue to strengthen the ability of our families and businesses to thrive and prosper.”

The Murfreesboro facility first opened in September 2012 when it shipped its first customer order, L Wrench Double Pack, to a customer in Addison, Ill.

The hourly positions require employees to pick, pack and ship customer orders.

In addition to competitive wages, employees are immediately eligible for comprehensive benefits that include health insurance, 401k incentives with a 50 percent match, bonuses, company stock awards, and a network of support to ensure employees succeed.

Amazon also offers full-time employees innovative programs like Career Choice, in which the company pre-pays up to 95 percent of tuition for courses related to in-demand fields, regardless of whether the skills are relevant to a career at Amazon.
