All's quiet at the polls

Things are quiet on the election front today as voters go to the polls for the county general and state and federal primary election.

“What I’m hearing is that it’s slow, very slow,” said Hooper Penuel, elections administrator.

Due to the lack of volume, polls are running smoothly as well.

“We had a few early morning jitters but over all things are going well in the election arena today,” Penuel said.

But there’s still time to get out and cast a ballot. The polls close at 7 p.m. tonight and everyone who is in line when they close will get a chance to vote, Penuel said.

Visit Rutherford County’s Election Commission Web site at www.rutherfordcountytn.gov/election/index.htm for poll locations.

For voters who have changed address or name, Failsafe Voting allows them to cast a ballot. Usually these voters went to their old precinct and were sent to their new one. Now they are sent to Voter Central at the Rutherford County Election Commission annex on Vine Street.

Watch for updates tonight.
