The alleged killer of MTSU Lady Raider Tina Stewart was released on bond Friday.

After Shanterrica Madden’s attorney, Joe Brandon, argued for a reasonable bond amount before Judge David Loughry, her parent’s posted bail and took her home to Memphis.

Madden, 18, was being held at the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center without bond since the Wednesday, March 2 death of her roommate Tina Stewart.

Madden is charged with the first-degree murder of Stewart, who died resulting from injuries reportedly suffered from a stabbing at Raiders Crossing Apartments on Hazelwood Street.

The two women reportedly got into a fight when Madden pulled a knife and stabbed Stewart.

Stewart is a Memphis native who started four games among the 26 in which she played for the Lady Raiders. She earned a starting role against Western Kentucky on Dec. 20. She started three other games later in the season against FIU Florida Atlantic and University of Louisana-Monroe.

Madden is scheduled to appear next at a preliminary hearing Thursday, March 24.
