Riverdale High School senior Alisha Nance was transferred Tuesday to Shepherd Center, a spinal cord injury rehabilitation and brain injury facility in Atlanta.
Nance, 18, suffered injuries Feb. 5 when her car plunged into Stones River off Barfield Road. She received treatment at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville until being transferred to Atlanta.
Her mother, Angie Sterry, and her grandfather accompanied her.
Family friend Janice McGoldrick said Nance underwent speech and physical therapy Wednesday. Therapists were optimistic. Doctors will observe her this week.
“We still don’t know what the recovery is going to be,” McGoldrick said. “We’re still asking everyone to pray for 100 percent.”
