How does he know "alcohol was involved?" This article was printed way before any blood alcohol level would have been returned from the hospital, and clearly the victim didn't do a breathalyzer.

Let me guess, beer cans in the car. Or worse yet a bottle of booze. (wrapped in a brown paper bag.) He even might have had cigarettes...

Face it, you can smell alcohol, that's not the problem. The question I have is: Why "Special Operation Response Team", what happened to the EMS of Rutherford Co. Maybe this is why our county is running out of money. All that new stationary and buisness cards must be draining the system. That's right, even though we pay taxes for our EMS, they get to over charge us for their use. Not to blame our local gov't for that that was passed by our state legeslators (of course lobbied by local gov't).

Jessy....you obviously do not understand the EMS in Rutherford County! And the EMS is NOT why the county is running out of money. Could that possibly be because things "just cost more" now than they did?? As far as "what happened to the EMS of Rutherford Co?"; they are busy every single day responding to emergent 911 calls. Some shifts respond to as many as 100+ calls in a 24 hr. shift. Now; lets say that YOU had a MVA and was trapped inside your vehicle. Would you want to 'stay in that vehicle' or would you like for the Special Operations Response Team to come & remove you from that vehicle so you could be treated by the BEST Paramedics, who could transport you to a medical facility where you could continue treatment to save your life? Or; would you like to remain in that vehicle and take your chances???

Not my first rodeo. I was in the buiness for 5 years (vehical rescue, in Rutherford Co. & firefighting),and neck deep in the politic of this county. I will deffently agree with you about the best paramedics around. It would help your blood pressure to read what was written, again. Better yet I'll explain it to you: I was bashing the loacl and state gov't on the unfare taxing of it's people!!!!!! As stated before, I have been in the rescue vehicals responding, I have spent hours on call (at my expence) I have seen the waist, and still watch it from a distance today. Now being a home owner and understanding all the taxes coming at me. There's areas our loacal and state gov't needs to fix. Steve Lane & Bill Travis put a foundation down years ago only for this counties gov't ( through the years) let it wash away. They let the county grow and didn't want to spend the money (little at a time) to build the EMS, fire & rescue up with the grouth.
Nunley & Randy White, I won't leave you out, it's just easy to explain you both: Personal gain!
I only wish more tax payers would get involed.
