Rutherford County’s Annual Christmas Parade, “A Middle Tennessee Christmas,” is slated for Sunday, Dec. 14 beginning at 1 p.m.
Parade applications are available at the Linebaugh and Smyrna libraries, Mid-South Bank, the Chamber of Commerce and at WGNS Talk Radio. Entries and parade rules are also available on-line at www.http://wgnsradio.com/.
The parade is open to businesses, schools, churches, organizations, individuals and social groups. This year the parade takes place the same day as the MTSU women’s basketball team vs. the University of Alabama. In order to accommodate both events the parade will start one and a half hours earlier than in the past, at 1 p.m.
The parade will need to clear the MTSU area quickly so the parade will be shortened this year with the elimination of some vehicle entries. All entries must be decorated in the parade theme, “A Middle Tennessee Christmas.” There is a $10 entry fee. Trophies will be awarded in a variety of categories. The deadline to enter is Dec. 1 for the Dec. 14 parade.
The parade route begins at the intersection of East Main Street and Middle Tennessee Boulevard in front of MTSU and continues up Main Street, ending at Walnut Street. Sponsors for this year’s parade are WGNS Talk Radio, MidSouth Bank, Atmos Energy, Stones River Amateur Radio Club and the Noon Exchange Club of Murfreesboro.
