The classic tale of Ebenezer Scrooge comes to the Center for Art this December in “A Christmas Carol,” running three weekends beginning Dec. 5.

Taking dialogue and action straight from the Dickens’ novella, director Andrew Ford has put together a storytelling treat perfect for those nights by the fire. Dark and bare, yet heart warming and exciting- this adaptation brings the best moments of the classic together for one of the most intimate theatrical experiences the Center has ever presented.

“Whether you’ve heard this story a hundred times or whether this is your first, we know ‘A Christmas Carol’ will please audiences of all ages,” said producer and board member Jayne Perkins. “We are very excited to bring the community our annual Christmas production, which holds very true to the original we all love.”

The Center for the Arts invites you to their last production of the year, starring some of this season’s most enjoyable performers. Actors becoming the classic Dickens characters include Tony Cimino (Tevye, Fiddler on the Roof) as Scrooge, John Mack Green (Grandpa, You Can’t Take It With You) as Bob Cratchit among others, and Lila Tuck (Christmas Story, King Lear) as the ghost of Christmas Present. The cast rounds out with even more local stage favorites: Andy, Candilyn, Spencer, and Peyton Ford, Amy Bernstein, Amy Baltimore, Michael Lamb, Kelly Hayes, and Michael Hayes as Tiny Tim.

“A Christmas Carol” runs from Dec. 5 -21 at the Center for the Arts. Show times are Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.

Tickets can be reserved by calling 904-2787. Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and students and $8 for children 12 and under. Group rates are available but must be reserved in advanced.

The Center for the Arts is located at 110 W. College St., one block off the historic Murfreesboro Square. For more information, please visit us online at www.BoroArts.org or call us at 904-2787.
