The Murfreesboro Police Department's Fatal Accident Crash Team is investigating a crash that resulted in the death of an elderly man and seriously injured his wife.
At noon Monday, May 7, James Gannon, 91, and his wife Nannie, 88, both of Sulphur Springs Road, were traveling north on Sulphur Springs Road approaching the intersection of Clays Mill Drive.
After a preliminary investigation, investigators believe a 2006 International truck operated by Mark Harrell, 29, of Portland, Tenn., was traveling west on Clays Mill Drive and stopped at the intersection at Sulphur Springs Road.
Harrell's truck entered the intersection and failed to yield to the Gannons' Dodge Dakota, causing a collision in the intersection.
James Gannon was transported to MTMC and transferred to Vanderbilt Hospital where he later died from his injuries. Nannie Gannon was taken to MTMC where she remains with serious injuries. Harrell did not suffer any injuries in the crash.
The FACT team is investigating this crash and no charges have been filed at this point in the investigation. This is the first fatality on Murfreesboro roads in 2012. |
