LA VERGNE – A 9-year old La Vergne girl reported to police she was approached Monday after school by a stranger who tried to get her in his car.
After the school bus dropped off the girl at about 3 p.m. and pulled away, a small, yellow four-door sedan vehicle pulled up next to the girl. The driver, described as a white male in his 30s or 40s with black hair and a mustache, pulled up next to the girl, rolled down his window and said he knew her father and was going to take her to him.
The girl fled to a neighbor’s house and contacted her father who called the police.
Police are asking the public to notify the La Vergne Police Department at 615-793-7744 if they saw or know of someone operating that type vehicle who could be a suspect.
“It is imperative that we find the person who did this,” said Police Chief Mike Walker. “Also remind your children to never talk to strangers and never get in a vehicle with a stranger, even when they act like they know you. They need to scream ‘No!’ and run to an adult they know.”
Walker said this could be a parent, neighbor, teacher, or friend. |
