| The 2nd Annual Snyder Foundation 5K Run/Walk For The Kids will benefit the Smyrna FOP's Shop With A Cop Program. The Smyrna Fraternal Order of Police's Shop with a Cop programs buys coats, shoes and Christmas presents for children 12 and under in the Smyrna area. The FOP screens applicants to assure that the children are from underprivileged families. The race is Saturday, Oct. 31st at 8:15 a.m. The course is a USATF certified 5K that begins and ends at Wal-Mart and runs a loop to the Sam Davis Home. There will be prizes for age group categories as well as overall winners. Wal-Mart will provide refreshments for participants and sponsors will have booths. The race is open to runners of all age, with runners age 11 and under accompanied by an adult. Advanced registration is $25, race day registration is $30 and donations are always accepted. Cash, checks and money orders will be accepted through the Snyder Foundation. Those wishing to use a credit card may register through Active.com. Participants may contact Snyder.Foundation@yahoo.com for additional registration information. Corporate sponsorship and promotional questions should be directed to Amy Tolbert at the Snyder.Foundation@yahoo.com or 615-220-0009. Since the race is on Halloween morning, organizers are encouraging the “casual” participant to wear their favorite costume. |
