The Murfreesboro Noon Exchange Club will have a new location for the annual Memorial Day Weekend “Healing Field – Flags of Remembrance.”

The event has historically been held near The Avenue will move to a new location at 3041 Memorial Boulevard at Osborne Lane, next to Family Worship Center, across from Wilson Bank and Trust.

At 8 a.m. on Saturday, May 24, the grassy field will be transformed into a field of 800 3 foot by 5 foot American Flags on eight foot poles in perfect rows and columns in an awe inspiring tribute to honor those men and women who sacrificed their time, talents – some even their lives for freedom and this great land. Each flag will fly in honor of a hero. Volunteers are needed to help post flags.

This year Tennesseans who have perished in the War on Terrorism will have a flag in their honor and designated with a special yellow ribbon.

There will be a Closing Patriotic Ceremony at 5 p.m. on Memorial Day with prayer, a “21 gun salute” and the playing of ”TAPS” before the sponsored flags can be retrieved.

Families may sponsor a flag in advance or after the closing ceremony for $ 30 per flag in honor or memory of their personal hero. This is a change from previous years so get your flag early.

Corporate sponsors are needed in order to make this Americanism project successful. Those interested need to contact The Murfreesboro Noon Exchange Club immediately for Corporate Sponsorship recognition.
