Doctor finds bone near downtown square
A doctor found what was believed to be a child’s upper arm bone in an alley Wednesday in downtown Murfreesboro, police reported. Dr. Tim Sprague of Southern Hills Medical Center reported he found the bone believed to be from a 7- to 10-year-old child in an alley between West Main Street and Walnut Street, Officer Travis Henderson reported.

Kids give up candy, write letters to soldiers
About 50 kids earned some extra cash Thursday when dentist Dr. Beth Keen paid $1 per pound for extra Halloween candy. Dr. Keen gave the children flashing toothbrushes while Toot’s donated T-shirts and gift certificates. Reeves-Sain gave away soda/milkshake tokens and a Hello Kitty fan for a door prize. Businessman Bubba Hutson gave a cash donation. Roses donated bags of candy.

What was believed to be a bone from a child’s arm was determined to be a bone from an animal, a Murfreesboro Police spokesman said Friday.
