|La Vergne police arrest suspect in copper thefts|
A string of copper wire thefts was stopped in La Vergne Sunday night after La Vergne Police Department Officer John Stith observed a vehicle with its door opened parked on the side of Hollandale Road in Lake Forest Estates. As he drove closer to the vehicle, Stith noticed a man jump into the car and drive off at a high rate of speed.

Katie Dunn scored 13 points and hit the game-winner with one second remaining as Middle Tennessee Christian School beat White House-Heritage Monday at Eagleville in the Region 5-A Tournament semifinals.

MTSU senior guard Chrissy Givens was named ESPN the Magazine's Division I Academic All-American of the Year, an award presented by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

MTSU's Lady Raiders dominated the Sun Belt Conference this season. Therefore, it was only fitting that MTSU dominated the All-Sun Belt awards. MTSU, which is 26-3, 18-0 in conference play, had three players — senior guard Chrissy Givens, junior forward Amber Holt and senior forward Krystle Horton — earn all-conference honors.

|Oakland cruises to region tourney finals|
During postseason play basketball teams must play good defense if they want to win. Oakland played excellent defense Tuesday night in the Region 4-AAA Tournament semifinals at Siegel High School and, as a result, soundly defeated Shelbyville 67-47.

All night Riverdale needed to hit just one shot to get over the hump. The Warriors stayed close to White County the entire game and was within one twice in the fourth quarter. Riverdale, however, couldn't get the needed bucket. As a result, Riverdale's season ended with a 53-44 loss to White County Tuesday night in the Region 4-AAA Tournament semifinals at Siegel High School. White County will play Oakland for the Region 4-AAA Tournament title Thursday.
