The Murfreesboro City Council will consider entering into a lease agreement with the Murfreesboro Housing Authority for a parking lot to serve as the hub of the city's new transit system.

The Murfreesboro Planning Commission approved a request by The Hastings Family Limited Partnership for the zoning of approximately 5 acres on Conhocken Court, south of Old Fort Parkway and west of Cason Lane.

U.S. Rep. Bart Gordon's legislation designed to stem the scourge of methamphetamine in the nation's communities cleared the U.S. House of Representatives today.
During the holiday's 6th-graders at Christiana Middle School sent bundles of handmade cards and letters to Murfreesboro native Andy Honeycutt's U.S. Marine detachment in Okinawa, Japan. This week, the Marines returned the favor sending the students a photographic thank you.
|MTSU football hits Florida to fill out recruiting class|
MTSU wanted to improve at every position, and it obviously feels that a good way to do so is to hit Florida hard. The Blue Raider football program signed 24 players Wednesday — National Signing Day — and 11 are from Florida. MTSU inked three from Tennessee, three from Georgia, two from Virginia, two from Mississippi, and one each from Arizona, Kentucky and Colorado.

|MTSU tennis' Siljestrom named SBC Player of the Week|
MTSU senior Andreas Siljestrom was voted Sun Belt Player of the Week on Wednesday, as announced by the conference office. Siljestrom has posted a perfect 6-0 dual match singles record as well as four doubles victories, as the 42nd-ranked Blue Raiders are off to a 5-1 start.
Board members and staff of Ascend Credit Union (formerly AEDC) were joined by members of the Chamber of Commerce for their grand opening and ribbon cutting today at the Franklin Road location.
