MTSU's doubles team of Andreas Siljestrom and Marco Born suffered a disappointing loss in the Polo Ralph Lauren ITA All-American Championships early in the season. The doubles team followed that with an 8-2 loss to Tennessee Oct. 13 in the Volunteer State Challenge. After that, head coach Dale Short decided it was time for a talk with his doubles team. | Mustangs Jr. Pee Wee squad wins title Before football season started Murfreesboro Mustangs head coach Chris Haynes had three goals for his 5-6-year-old squad: have fun, run in the right direction and develop a winning attitude. The three things go hand-in-hand. To be successful the Mustangs needed to do all three things. This time it didn't turn out to be a high-scoring affair when Riverdale faced Smyrna. Instead, it turned into a defensive struggle between two teams that didn't give much ground. In the end, it was Smyrna's defense that made the big plays as the Bulldogs upset host Riverdale 9-7 Friday night in the Class 5A quarterfinals. By JOSH EZZELL |

| Murfreesboro Post's top 10 MTSU football games MTSU's regular season ends Saturday when the Blue Raiders welcome Troy to Floyd Stadium. The game is one of the biggest in MTSU history as the winner gets a bid to the New Orleans Bowl. Two wins over SEC member Vanderbilt and a close loss to Alabama on the road are among the top Blue Raider football games to date, according to The Post Top 10 list compiled prior to Saturday's game at South Carolina in which a MTSU win would obviously make anyone's list. |
