Two 17-year-old boys were charged with burglary and theft after they were accused of breaking into a home and stealing property Sunday, a Murfreesboro Police detective said.

They were accused of stealing about $1,100 worth of property from victim James D. McElhanon of Bell Street, Officer Michael Rickard reported. Property taken included a 46-inch flat screen TV, Wii game, 40-inch flat screen TV and a DVD.

When Detective Katrina Henderson responded to the burglary call, Rickard and Officer David Scruggs answered a suspicious person call on nearby Ewing Boulevard where they found the two boys.

Police recovered McElhanon’s stolen property in the tree line.

They were booked into the Juvenile Detention Center and attended a detention hearing Monday in Juvenile Court.
